Lori who runs Fluffy Dog Rescue was notified of a Great Pyrenees dog in Tennessee that had been up for adoption for some time. These dogs are very large and fluffy and often take longer to find forever homes for. Lori's own dog is part Great Pyrenees and she has a special love of this breed. Fluffy Dog Rescue takes in several Pyr. dogs a year and has had success in adoptions in Wisconsin/Illinois with this breed. Arrangements were made and Iggy was on his way. These are some photo's of him when he arrived after Christmas.
We had been told that Iggy was a Gentle Ben, and that he was. When he arrived he was quite shy. He would take a few steps back with loud noises and not approach people on his own. Despite this, he was very gentle. We also learned, he hated to be crated and would try to break out.
Iggy went home with a new foster mom and her Newfoundland dog. Can you imagine these two huge dogs in a small home. Well, that is still where he is. He has made wonderful progress with his socialization. I just don't think he was exposed to much in his prior life. He has bonded to his foster mom and her friends and loves them. He does not eagerly great new people but after a few minutes of reservation, fine with them. He still does not like crates but doesn't seem to need one.
