A note from Howie's foster mom...

Howie's come a long way. When he first came here, he hid under my desk for a week, and was very afraid. Now, he is getting more confident every day, even to strangers. He is learning how to walk on a leash with confidence also. He didn't want to leave his home base at first, but when I took another dog with us he went on a walk more willingly. He even met the neighbors. He shows he's comfortable when he falls to the floor and stretches out for a nap, which is how he likes to sleep - stretched out, on his back against the wall. Howie loves to play but he is not dominate - the chihuahua's can make him fall to the ground in submission. He just wants everyone to be his friend, even the grumpy dogs who don't want to play. He's learning to take baths, or, I should say, he's learning that baths will not melt him. He stands nicely while I give him a bath or wash his feet off in the tub. When he gets out, he is so happy to be done he dances around and high fives the other dogs, literally. It's so funny.
